The Banyan Tree

I am that banyan tree
Which is not rooted in the ground
And yet, on its branches
A thousand well-tuned mynahs sing.
I am that banyan tree
Which is not rooted in the ground
And yet, under its shade
A thousand homeless dervishes sit.
I am that banyan tree
Which is not rooted in the ground
And yet, every night
The city sleeps beneath it
And wakes up every morning
To the call of its Mynahs.
I am that banyan tree
Which is not rooted in the ground
And yet, from each of its trunks
A thousand groves grow.
