برای روز بین‌المللی یادبود قتل عام یهودیان

گاهی هلن را می‌بینم
که با دامنِ بلندش
از راه می‌رسد.
راهبَری آهنین را هُل می‌دهد*
که بر زمین شیار می‌کِشد.
همیشه می‌پرسد:
"آقا!
امروز چند شنبه است؟
امروز چند شنبه است؟"
می‌گویم: "ژودی"
و گاهی "دانر اِشتاگ"*
زیرا می‌دانم هلن
از آلمان گریخته
و در پاریس شوهر کرده.
او چون قطارِ سنگینِ قربانیان
از کنارم می‌گذرد
و من در فراسوی زمان
صدایشان را می‌شنوم.
شانزدهم فوریه هزار‌و‌نهصد‌و‌نود‌و‌هفت
*- "راهبر" به‌جای "واکِر".
*- "پنجشنبه" به فرانسوی و آلمانی.

Some times I see Helen
Passing by
Wearing a long skirt.
She pushes a metal walker
Scraping against the ground.
She always asks:
"Sir!
What day is today?
What day is today?"
I say: "Jeudi"
And sometimes: "Donnerstag"
Because I know
Helen had fled Germany
And married in Paris.
She passes by me
Like a heavy train of victims
And I hear their voices
Out of the reach of time.
